The Virtual Visit: Helpful Tips for Your Telemedicine Appointment
Dr. Dave Scheiderer : Hi. I'm Dr. Dave, a board certified psychiatrist. Telemedicine has become a popular way for many patients to see their health care providers, but many patients want to know how they can get the most out of their virtual visits. Here are some tips on how to best prepare for your call.
First, before your appointment, prepare for the conversation.
Check that your doctor has all of your up to date information and write down any questions, concerns or changes in your symptoms and any medications you're taking.
Find a private, quiet space with minimal distractions. You want to make sure you are comfortable talking freely and openly to your doctor.
Now, during your appointment, get comfortable.
Treat the video visit just like any other appointment. Have patience. And remember that technology can be unpredictable sometimes. Consider having a family member or friend join you to take notes or raise possible questions and concerns, if you forget.
After your appointment, review your notes and the visit summary given by your provider.
Schedule follow up visits.
Reach out to your health care provider if you have any questions.
By utilizing these tips, you're going to make the most of your telemedicine visits. Good luck.
